D’ALMEIDA Hats was founded on a simple idea: instead of searching endlessly for something that almost fits, almost suits you, or almost matches the occasion, you should be able to have exactly what you need.
We are not a conventional hat shop. We are a modern hat atelier specialising in custom hats for women and men, created according to the wearer’s size, personal style and intended occasion.
Traditional craftsmanship remains at the centre of our work, while modern tools and a innovative production process make custom-made design more accessible and faster than ever before.
Alongside our custom designs, we offer private workshops and craft experiences that invite guests to discover hatmaking from inside the atelier.
The Person behind the Atelier
D’ALMEIDA Hats was founded by Stefanie de Almeida, a designer and hatmaker trained in traditional millinery techniques.
Her work is driven by a desire to preserve the knowledge of the craft without treating it as something static or belonging only to the past. She combines established hatmaking methods with contemporary design, modern production techniques and a more personal, experience-led way of working with clients.
For Stefanie, keeping the craft alive means allowing people to encounter it directly: to enter the atelier, touch the materials, understand the process and participate in the creation of an object.

Fewer, better and more meaningful objects
A custom-made hat is designed to be worn, maintained and remembered.
By producing primarily on demand, we avoid unnecessary stock and focus our materials and working time on pieces that already have a purpose and an owner.
We believe the future of premium fashion lies not in offering more choice, but in creating better objects—made with intention, designed for the individual and valued for longer.
Made to fit the individual
A hat should not require the wearer to adapt to it.
We design around the person: their measurements, proportions, style, preferences and occasion. Shape, size, colour, material and finishing can all be considered as part of the design process.
The result is not simply a product selected from a catalogue, but a piece created with a clear purpose.
Premium European materials
The quality of a hat begins with its materials.
We work with carefully selected premium felts, straws, ribbons and finishing materials sourced predominantly from specialist European producers. Whenever possible, we choose suppliers who maintain regional manufacturing knowledge and transparent production standards.
Premium materials make a hat look and perform better. Responsibly sourced European materials also allow us to create with greater confidence in how and where they were produced.
For us, this is non-negotiable.
Craftsmanship with a contemporary purpose
We respect traditional hatmaking techniques because they continue to offer exceptional possibilities for shaping, fitting and personalisation.
At the same time, we believe craftsmanship must remain relevant. We use modern tools, adaptable processes and contemporary design thinking to make custom hatmaking more responsive to today’s customer.
